• Devan Grayson, MA

Licensed Professional Counselor / Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Devan considers it a privilege to come alongside clients as they wonder about their own stories, and believes that change happens over time, in the context of safe relationships. She is committed to the therapeutic process as a result of her training and personal story. She believes that the details of our lives are important, and works with clients to reveal how particular moments in their past have shaped the way they approach life and relationships with others in the present.

Devan specializes in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, complex trauma, spiritual issues, abuse, or difficulties within their family of origin. She also has extensive experience working with clients struggling with medical related trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, difficulty connecting with their emotions, life transitions, and grief. She believes in a holistic approach to therapy that incorporates emotional and somatic healing, and works to help clients tap into their natural strengths while also building up new resources for growth.

Devan graduated with her Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Sociology from the College of William and Mary and her Master's Degree in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. After graduating, she spent three years working for a school-based early intervention program counseling adolescents and providing care to their families. She is trained in EMDR, an evidence based therapy that can aid those recovering from trauma. She has also completed training on sexual abuse recovery through the Allender Center. Outside of the counseling room, she enjoys quality time with friends, writing, hiking, playing ultimate Frisbee, and lifting weights. You can read some of her writing at Red Tent Living where she regularly contributes to the blog.
